PSEG Power Connecticut Partners with Bridgeport’s Roosevelt School
to Deliver Support for Educational Programming

(Dec. 12, 2019 – BRIDGEPORT, Conn.) – PSEG Power Connecticut is pleased to announce support for Bridgeport Harbor Station’s neighborhood K-8 school, the Roosevelt School. PSEG Power Connecticut will support unique educational opportunities at the school focusing on STEM and the humanities, including two multi-day programs: a seventh-grade visit to Nature’s Classroom in Lakeside, Connecticut, and an eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.

The recent trip to Nature’s Classroom provided the seventh-graders with hands-on education in STEM, the environment and the humanities, while making real-world connections, all outside the classroom and outside an urban setting. In the upcoming eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., students will visit and explore monuments, museums and the governmental process in our nation’s capital, giving each student valuable insight into the most important people, places and events that shaped our nation’s history.

In an event today marking the academic support, PSEG Power Senior Vice President Brian Clark joined a conversation led by Roosevelt School Principal Jackie Simmons on the impact of hands-on experiential learning in the field and in our nation’s capital. Additional distinguished guests and speakers included Council President Aidee Nieves, Councilwoman Denese Taylor-Moye, Superintendent Michael Testani, representatives from the mayor’s office, and several participating teachers and students.

“At PSEG, we believe that educational opportunities are critical to building better communities and citizens, especially in the places where we live and work every day,” said Clark, PSEG Power’s senior vice president for Fossil Operations. “With all the great work that is happening here in the South End, it’s an honor to partner with Roosevelt School.”

PSEG aims to help to build sustainable and thriving communities by supporting, empowering and investing in the people, economy, environment and infrastructure of the communities where we operate. Education is a key focus for PSEG and we believe that education and preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow – one that is able to help drive innovation, develop technology and build solutions that foster thriving communities – will help to increase economic opportunity and lead us to a clean energy future.
