Business Efficiency & Reinvestment

Energy efficiency programs help businesses operate more efficiently, manage utility costs, and reinvest savings for growth.

Why it matters:

  • Helps businesses reduce energy use and manage utility costs.
  • Improves operational efficiency and long-term cost stability.
  • Incentives help offset upfront project costs.
  • On-Bill Repayment (OBR) allows eligible customers to spread project costs over time.
  • Upgrades improve comfort, reliability, and equipment performance.

Impact to date*:

  • Nearly 22,500 businesses have participated, resulting in approximately 36,000 energy efficiency projects completed statewide.
  • Approximately $793 million in rebate incentives have been provided to business customers to support energy efficiency upgrades and offset upfront project costs.
  • Repayment options like on-bill-repayment (OBR) have enabled participation in larger and more complex energy efficiency projects by spreading costs over time, reducing upfront cost barriers and allowing businesses to reinvest in operational needs and growth.
  • Participation spans businesses of all sizes across New Jersey, including more than 2,200 small businesses.
