PSE&G will be working in New Brunswick in December 2023 to replace aging cast iron gas pipes with new, durable plastic and/or coated steel piping – ensuring the continued safety and reliability of our gas system well into the future.

Please note that starting Monday, August 12th, Burnet Street (between Tunison Road and Edgebrook Road) will be closed to all traffic for this segment of construction. PSE&G will work with the local police department to ensure that traffic is rerouted safely.

The road closure is expected to be in place for approximately five weeks, dependent on weather and crew availability. Bus stops that fall within the work zone will be closed during construction.

Local residential traffic to Rutgers Village and Woodrow Wilson Elementary School will remain open via Tunison Road and Edgebrook Road. Please follow all posted detour signage.

Work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with the potential for Saturday work. The gas main replacement and services portion of the work is expected to take place through the Spring of 2024.

When PSE&G technicians need to coordinate access to your home to connect the service line and gas meter to the new main pipeline, they will contact the homeowner to arrange a date and time to do this work. On the day of your scheduled appointment, our technicians will ask you a series of pandemic-related safety questions.
