Making New Jersey Energy Strong
The second phase of PSE&G's Energy Strong program clears the way to further strengthen our electric and gas systems to withstand storms, improve reliability and significantly enhance resiliency
This program means that fewer customers will experience outages and, when outages do occur, they will be restored more quickly. Energy Strong creates jobs, improves worker safety and adds more advanced technology and redundancy to make our systems even more resilient. Every municipality in the PSE&G electric service territory is experiencing upgrades to equipment and circuits under the second phase of Energy Strong, which is expected to conclude in 2023.
Program Summary
PSE&G will raise or harden 16 substations, and replace up to 4 stations that are nearing end-of-life. We’re installing stronger poles and wires to reduce wind and tree damage; deploying advanced technology to reduce outages and quicken restoration; and, creating a new communications network. We’re also modernizing six natural gas metering stations and replacing assets nearing end-of-life.
Keeping Your Lights on and Gas Flowing
Our power is reliable, staying on 99.9% of the time for most customers. Still, we’re not satisfied. We’re hard at work making improvements to our distribution systems through the second phase of our Energy Strong program that will protect more customers from lengthy outages.
