PSE&G Files Scheduled Rate Case, Its First in Nearly 6 Years
PSE&G, New Jersey’s largest electric and gas utility, today filed its scheduled rate case with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Filed as required by the NJ Board of Public Utilities’ rules, this rate case is PSE&G’s first comprehensive electric and gas rate case in nearly six years. A main component of the case is to recover capital investments made to strengthen and modernize the state’s electric and gas infrastructure since PSE&G’s last rate case in 2018. PSE&G’s request is among the lowest proposed rate increases filed by a NJ public utility over the past several years.

A Decade after Superstorm Sandy, New Jersey’s Infrastructure is Considerably More Prepared for Hurricane Season
Public Service Electric and Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, is well prepared to support customers and the state for what experts say could be another very active hurricane season. Ten years after Superstorm Sandy raged across the East Coast, PSE&G continues to protect customers’ utility service from the damaging impact of extreme weather by strengthening and upgrading its infrastructure. This work contributed to PSE&G customers experiencing fewer outages and the utility achieving strong reliability performances for 2021, one of the best in the last 10 years.
PSE&G Gains Approval to Fast Track Grid Modernization Efforts
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities today approved a settlement that will enable PSE&G to make investments that will provide the enhanced reliability customers now need and help New Jersey achieve its clean energy goals. With the approval of PSE&G's Infrastructure Advancement Program, the state's largest utility is expected to invest $511 million over four years, creating hundreds of well-paying jobs and helping stimulate the New Jersey economy.

Public Service Enterprise Group, Inc. (PSEG, Inc.) Corporate home page. The Public Service Corporation was formed in 1903, by amalgamating more than 400 gas, electric and transportation companies in New Jersey. Thomas McCarter was named the Corporation's first president and held the position until 1939. Internally, Public Service consolidated its gas and electric interests into Public Service Electric and Gas, and its transportation interests into Public Service Coordinated Transport (later Transport of New Jersey). Concerns about the concentration of economic power resulted in federal and state actions requiring the breakup of utilities. In 1943, Public Service once again became a stand-alone company, and was renamed Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) in 1948.
