Solar Power and Net Metering - PSE&G
Most solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in New Jersey are connected to the local utility’s electric system. This connection provides two benefits:
First, there will be times when you’ll need power from the electric system, like on a cloudy day or when there’s snow covering your solar panels.
Second, at times when your PV system is generating more power than you need, the excess power flows into the electric system and earns you “energy credits” that will reduce future bills.
This works through a process called “net metering.”

Public Service Electric and Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, is well prepared to support customers and the state for what experts say could be another very active hurricane season. Ten years after Superstorm Sandy raged across the East Coast, PSE&G continues to protect customers’ utility service from the damaging impact of extreme weather by strengthening and upgrading its infrastructure. This work contributed to PSE&G customers experiencing fewer outages and the utility achieving strong reliability performances for 2021, one of the best in the last 10 years.
PSE&G Gains Approval to Fast Track Grid Modernization Efforts
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities today approved a settlement that will enable PSE&G to make investments that will provide the enhanced reliability customers now need and help New Jersey achieve its clean energy goals. With the approval of PSE&G's Infrastructure Advancement Program, the state's largest utility is expected to invest $511 million over four years, creating hundreds of well-paying jobs and helping stimulate the New Jersey economy.

The Board of Directors of Public Service Enterprise Group (NYSE:PEG) today declared a quarterly common stock dividend for the first quarter of 2022 of $0.54 per share payable on March 31, 2022 to shareholders of record on March 10, 2022. PSE&G is prepared for heavy rain today as the remnants of Hurricane Debby move through the area and could bring isolated wind gusts, tornado threats and flooding throughout our service area. The weather system could bring hazardous wind gusts across the service area –— enough to potentially topple trees, bring down branches on wires and cause outages. We encourage customers to prepare -– know how to stay safe before, during and after a storm and know how to report an outage before it happens.

The Board of Directors of Public Service Enterprise Group (NYSE:PEG) today declared a $0.57 per share quarterly common stock dividend for the first quarter of 2023, payable on March 31, 2023 to shareholders of record on March 10, 2023. PSE&G today filed for a three-year, $2.54 billion extension of its Gas System Modernization Program (GSMP) with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
